January 17th

Location: Monrovia

I have begun my “new” internship in the Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Child Protection departments. To be completely honest, working with the OVC team this week has completely humbled me. The OVC program works with some of the most vulnerable children and families in Monrovia…every time a home visit ends I walk away a little more aware and humbled.

As I landed in Monrovia I began to imagine the amount of sweat that I was going to perspire as I stepped off that plane…well to my surprise and delight this is the time of year that the sand from the sarahra blows across the country to the coast of Liberia…creating this haze in the sky…although the sunsets are nonexistent the temperature is amazing…dry and cool.. I am told to enjoy, for the 105 temps will be here soon…but for now I am pumped to be back.
