Here is my idea…I am going to open a bakery and coffee shop in Monrovia where I hire ladies who have gone though training but still can’t find jobs… a dream yes but if I thought I would live in Liberia for the next ten years I would seriously do it ;)

Sorry no internet last night… Today I sat in a meeting with an array of representatives from different Child Protection agencies as we talked about the gaps in Child Protection and how as a whole we can work together to better assist the children of Liberia… idealistic, of course…but all I could think about was one family I visited a few days earlier…children’s school fees-paid…children’s medical fees- paid….food-none…life skills training-complete…job-none…land to farm near home-none… All I kept thinking is somehow the government must link with NGOs to assist families like these for the programs and the expats come and go and these families need something even more long term then the few years NGOs can assist them for.

  1. Well I think you should still open a bakery and then leave it to the people when you go back home...what do you think?
