March 9th
Location: Foya

We all need to be inspired and so we listen to music, watch movies, read biographies, climb mountains, or just watch the sun set…I am someone who thrives off of inspiration and my heart sores when I find people or activities that cause me to reflect and those who remind me how to live with purpose. There are people I know in Liberia who may never have their names mentioned in a book or an article written about them but are some of the most inspirational people I have ever met…Samuel works for our HIV and AIDS department but more importantly he is a person who truly has dedicated his life to improve lives in his community. The last time I saw Samuel we had 1 name on our free blood donor list, now we have 25…we had just completed our first HIV and AIDS awareness campaign ,now 6 campaigns have been conducted in surrounding communities and hundreds of people are being tested. I spent all Saturday working with Samuel on our new HIV projects and you know when you hear a song that makes you come alive as the feeling of hope and drive fills your senses… well today I heard that song as I worked along with Samuel and I was reminded of the everyday hero’s that maybe no one really stops to notice but who are out there changing the world.
