I have had my first t-shirt made for the rally(next weekend)...it says Give Free Blood...Give Life....this has already started a number of conversations on why blood should be given and not purchased. Currently in Liberia it is normal to be paid to donate blood...now in the States it's normal to be paid to donate plasma so in many ways it is not too different. The problem comes from the fact that there are many people who desperately need blood but cannot afford to pay for it. I have loved getting this HIV awareness campaign up and running but I still find it ironic that I myself have never given blood...maybe I should soon.
